Used Mini Cooper – Found!!
Anyone looking for a used Mini – Well I have one now in the most unlikely circumstances.
I bought a Watermill in France many years ago, there were several run down outbuildings and large wooden sheds in the grounds. That was 7 years ago and the Mill lay untouched ever since until the start of this year 2009.
This week the renovation project started to reach its conclusion with the main Watermill, it looks fabulous with 400 years of glorious history behind it. I moved on to the out buildings and opened some up for the first time, doors just fell off the structures. In one of the large wooden sheds there was a dark green tarpaulin and when I pulled it to one side there was a dusty old car.
Closer inspection reveals a Mini Cooper, its old, there are no number plates but it is in reasonable condition, what is an old Mini worth as a used car? Not much is my guess but it looks restorable.
Its quite ironic that an Englishman restoring a 16th Century Watermill in South West France should discover a very English project to move on to once the mill is finished. A used Mini Cooper in a fully restored condition would not be worth the cost of restoration but picture this….
The sun rises on a warm early Summers day, the sweeping gravel drive skirts round the lake just in front of the magnificent stone Watermill, the last vestiges of the early dawns mist evaporates under the suns rays, a glint catches the eye and there in bright red with sparkling crome is a British Mini Cooper in all its glory, could be 1966 all over again, is that Geoff Hurst on the TV and Michael Caine walking down the drive??
