SEO Forums – Spamming Google

From Spamming Google with blogs to Spamming Google with Forums

Well today I looked into one of my favourite SEO forums and got a bit of a shock, its a while since I was able to post regularly due to the intense nature of our business growth. The contrast was stark with this particular forum really a shadow of its former self.

Previously it had been very technical, very partisan in relation to spammers and very helpful to genuine posters, the posts themselves were pretty interesting in the main and often acute problems were solved for people.

Today I found that the forum was being over run by a swarm of newbies, the difference this time was that the newbies were there only to push their post count up because once you get over 50 posts you can have signiture links. None of the posts were helpful and almost all of them were just repeating a previous statement or agreeing with a previous statement.

The posters names have much in common, no real thought or rationale and just quickly made up to gain entry.

The experts that are left spend most of their timr trying to manage the deluge of new registrants and the rubbish posts they are making, this new trend is obviously designed to be part of a wider link spam strategy and it looks like those bloggers that are responsible for driving many UK search results are now getting their fingers into other networks to spam links.

Forum spammers have been around for ever but previously it was really based on comment spam which was easily managed, now its a disease that is ruining these once great forums, I truly worry about this trend as traditionally todays newbie was tomorrows helpful expert and that is what kept the forums helpful and alive.

Now its different, the real newbies are lost in the spam and the bloggers are infesting every part of the forum but with no interest in learning or genuine help, in fact when they do make statements they talk like experts but spout harmful drivel.

I am convinced that until there is a reverse trend in Google this type of SEO trend will continue, this is because blog spam has become very successful again and India is the culprit, the results are pushed by this current wave of activity and the same people are now establishing new ways to spam links, this is why they have turned to forums.

Don’t get me wrong, in days gone by there were helpful members from all over the world, genuine enquiries from around the world and posters of all nationalities posting regularly, in fact many of them put my English to shame and so this is not my issue, my issue is the widescale abuse of a system that has come about because Google is allowing the industry to be driven from India and unscrupulous UK SEO agencies are now farming out their work cheaply and taking advantage, both are really to blame.

The day Google acts on this is the day it all comes crashing down… So come on Google!!!!
