Mortgages – I need a mortgage in Colchester

After talking with Catherine and the boys I have decided its time to move, that means looking at the dreaded mortgage industry and looking for what my best option will be. Of course one of the biggest issues will be that so much has changed since I last bought a house and mortgages especially will be a challenge.

I have found a place near to Colchester, its got three quarters of an acre and four bedrooms, its rural rather than in the town and its a sensible price even before I attempt to barter. As much as the size of the house is important its the land which also gives me the greatest anticipation, the potential it offers is so exciting.

As I work in Colchester its good to look at being within a certain distance but I do not want to live in Colchester, its just too ‘towny’ and I am a village guy. The land will be invaluable since it allows so much potential, a mortgage is going to have to be new since I dont have the type you can take from property to property and it will need to be a bigger mortgage than I have now.

The land with the house also means I can build really good workshops in a cart lodge style, have so many motorbikes as well as the classic 911 turbo means I badly need somewhere that offers security plus space and which is off road. In addition if I used a ‘Cart lodge’ style of build it would be perfect for housing my classic collection and perhaps have an office above.

This is what it could look like with the doors wide enough for a car

I have always worked in Colchester and so I need to be able to commute without time being an issue, Weeley to Colchester is only 20 mins and Weeley as a village is lovely.

My mortgage will be a challenge and I will be interested at what different mortgage brokers and mortgage companies tell me, I am pretty clued up too so anybody looking to bull me is in for a rough ride.

I found a website offering mortgages Colchester and that will be my first point of call.

I will update this page with my experience and especially with the mortgage advice I am offered, traditionally mortgage advice has been pretty spurious and mortgage advisors themselves seen as sharks, certainly that has always been my experience.

Lets see what the next few weeks will bring and of course I will be publishing any contentious advice I receive.
