Mesh Computers- What A Terrible Experience
Well in my continued verbal blast against Rip-Off Britain I am today sounding off against Mesh Computers.
My experience makes me believe that I and many other consumers are being used as an overdraft facility or working capital by Mesh Computers.
The story so far….
I placed an order for 3 desktop computers from Mesh at the start of December and well before Christmas as presents for my children, the cost was £800 per machine and was paid in full. As the days went by the fourteen day delivery slot came and went, at 21 days I started to contact Mesh who simply stonewalled me and just promised to look into it then call me back.
As I got nearer to Christmas week I again contacted Mesh customer services to see where my order was and to ask why they didn’t make any of the 3 promised calls, the reply was they were too busy to contact me back.
I called more times starting to worry about my money, Mesh customer services eventually said they had despatched the order, I had an email to that effect but I explained not only had it not arrived but that DHL could not tell me where it was. Mesh customer services told me that it was not their problem since they had despatched the computers and fulfilled their obligation.
I got to the 22nd of December and started to fret that my three boys would not get their main Christmas present in time and I was also £2,500 out of pocket. I contacted Mesh many times in that week and at no point did they ever return a call or try and find out where my computers were, I finally got through to a DHL manager who simply said the problem was with Mesh and I needed to talk to them.
Finally I got hold of a manager at Mesh who said that the computers were still with them, I explained that I needed to have them by 24th but Mesh told me it would be 3 weeks!!!!
So that is 7 weeks delivery when I was promised 14 days, I asked for my money back and Mesh customer services told me I had to write in and cancel.
I cancelled my order in writing and managed to get my computers from Dell within 48 hours!!!
A week later I called Mesh and asked where my refund was, I was told I had to wait for 14 days whilst they put my refund claim to their arbitration service!!!! That service would determine if I was entitled to a refund, that was delivered very bluntly to me and I was savage!!
How can Mesh not fulfill an order and then hold my money whilst they decide in their own time whether I should get it back.
I contacted them after the 14 days only to be told that although my refund had been approved they legally can hold my money for 30 days.
I argued with a very rude Sumati Jetha who told me she was the manager in customer services, she said that I had to wait for 30 days from my date of cancellation so would not be entitled to get any money back until Jan 22nd. I mockingly pointed out that it should be Jan 21st at which she tried to shout me down insisting the 22nd. I then pointed out that December had 31 days and that 30 days was indeed 21st!!!
So here are the bullets of yet another Rip Off experience.
- Mesh are very rude
- Mesh do not fulfill orders but also do not tell you why
- Mesh do not ring back when they promise too
- Mesh hold you to ransome over your money quoting legal rights
- Mesh Customer Services are evasive and obstructive.
- I never found out why I didnt get the order.
- DHL said they never despatched it to me.
- Six weeks on I am still £2500 out of pocket with NO confirmed refund date other than a rude Sumati Jetha telecon.
- The computers were Christmas presents and Mesh knew this.
- Most people would not of been able to get alternative presents.I run a business and buy around 7 desktops a month for my staff and normally use Dell but opted to give Mesh a try to see what they would be like, this was explained at the time of my order, thats potentially a £7k per month order that they did not value and will not get.
The business will go to Dell and I will never contact Mesh again once I get my money back – its just one more example at how big companies can rip-off consumers and customers. The legal rights of the average hard working person in the street are now unprotected in this once great country.
If you want to take my advice do not ever buy a thing from Mesh!
More worryingly what would happen if Mesh went bust, just how many people do Mesh do this too and where is all their money, I believe that consumers are being used as an overdraft facility for Mesh whereby they use our cash for 6 weeks within their business before reluctantly giving it back.

There’s your arch nemesis, the parasite of customer services xD
Still an employee, apparently!
I really wish I’d seen this before ordering my grandparents a new computer off of them. I ordered a week ago and was told I’d be given a call when it’s dispatched. That’s literally all I’ve heard, on the site the computer is still in the same state it was when I ordered. What’s even more unsettling is that as of today I am unable to connect to their website at all. Thankfully I kept all of their contacts stored.
Into administration on the 1st June and still trading as if nothing has happened, Mesh Computers was sold as a ‘going concern’ to PC Peripherals clearing the baggage of debts and staff to start ripping off the British public again. If you believe the administrators – MacIntyre Hudson – that they looked high and low for someone to come in and buy Mesh then it seems a little strange that Mr Jafari – CEO of PC Peripherals, the company now owning Mesh – has been working at Mesh for years prior to this takeover and is simply a front for the Mesh Director Mr Sherafati who is still running things from the sidelines after clearing all the problems Mesh had, however the biggest problem is the fact the company is still being run by the same greed driven people.
If your looking to purchase a PC in todays market and you do your homework and have read the comments on this site and still go ahead and purchase a Mesh PC then you deserve everything that comes your way… and i assure you it won’t be a fully functional PC system. With inside knowledge i know they will do this little trick again.
I’ve got a story similar to those posted here so I won’t go into detail, but I can’t state this clearly enough,
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BUY A MESH COMPUTER. YOU WILL REGRET NOT TAKING THIS ADVICE!
I bought my last computer from Mesh but never again. The order took a month to arrive, when it arrived it had a vastly inferior graphics card in it and not the one I had paid for. The customer service people are all idiots and just frustrate the hell out of you when you deal with them. After a year or so it went in for a repair and came back all dented where the dispatch idiots hadn’t packaged it properly or had dropped it before they packaged it – Mesh denied all knowlege of the damage and refused to pay. They never return calls and sell inferior PC’s. Oh and watch out for the dodgy ‘warranty’ that costs you money every time because of all the stuff it doesn’t cover.
I’m about to order a replacement for my PC and it certainly won’t be from Mesh this time. If you’re about to buy a PC I would urge you to look elsewhere – don’t give these cowboys your money!!
Ya, I learned my lesson with Mesh many years ago, and still keep wondering why they are in business. As I recall, I had to write to the manager and give him so many days before I took them to small claims court, it would have been a lot less hassle than trying to deal with Mesh directly. My brand new faulty computer was at least then collected, without me having to pay return costs, and I received a full refund. I am often tempted by their products, but know it is just not worth the potential aggravation in purchasing from them. I would have though with all the publicity they get about bad customer service, etc, the management would have done something to improve things by now, but unfortunately, this country seems to thieve on bad management.
PC ordered 19th May, delivery promised week commencing 6th June by phone on 1st June. Since then, no email confirmation of delivery date. When I tried to contact them by email my mail was bounced back. Tried their telephone number this morning but the line is dead. After reading The Register report decided not to beat around the bush and contacted my credit card company who actually do give good customer service. After a brief conversation I was promised my money back in my bank account overnight tonight. The woman on the end of the phone said she had refunded several customers of Mesh in the past week as she believed they had gone into administration. My advice, if you have paid by credit card get in contact with your credit card company as soon as possible and arrange for a refund.
I can add to this. Computer ordered 26th December 2010 – still not delivered by end Feb 2011. Various excuses throughout then a message that said we had cancelled the order (we didn’t). Rang up – left hanging on by 3 separate people – then told that Mesh had cancelled because we hadn’t filled in the credit forms (we hadn’t received them!).
Re-ordered in March eventually got the computer in the middle of May, but no speakers. Asked for speakers – was assured they would be there within the week, two weeks ago.
You are left hanging on for ages and then the phone re-routes to their standard message and then cuts out. This happened to me 4 times in the space of 30 mins one day. They are incompetent, vague and evasive. I heeard today that they may have gone into administration – does anyone know?
Further to my last comment.
PC Advisor has written an article offering advice to Mesh Customers how haven’t received their order yet. Hopefully everyone has paid by credit card?
The article is at http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/buying-advice/tech-industry/3283313/advice-for-customers-of-mesh-computers/
Similar experience here. Order 4 weeks ago. Money taken day of order. Still no PC and customer services say they are waiting for parts. Emails go unanswered/ignored.
I note with some dismay, that The Register reports today that the company is in trouble.

Time to call the credit card company!
hi there i have had the same response from mesh next week mid week blah blah took cash on 16th april still no computer customer services put you on hold then cut you off. i have contacted my credit card and they are going to get refund. i will look at dell for my new pc..
They are the xxxx of the earth – Mesh that is! Ordered PC 25 April 2011, even with bank holidays was told 14 working days to get it to my house. Money debited day of order £525, 14 day period went. I managed to get through to Customer Support about 2 weeks ago who said my PC should be with me within 3 days, I phoned twice and was told this. However I had no email to say of a dispatch date and was told I would get an email 24 hours before dispatch, and yep you guessed it I have been chasing Mesh for the past 10 days and its worst now getting hold of them then 2 weeks ago. Every day for the last 8 working days I have been on hold for 25 minutes and give up, it does not matter what time of day it is. All I wanted to know was has my PC been built yet, where is my order and when will it be delivered.
I got emails unanswered to Customer Support, called Sales dept who couldn’t care less, I asked was it built yes or no nobody will tell me.
The order on the webpage hasn’t been updated since the day I placed the order 25th April, no emails, no calls. I’ve left about 5 messages asking people to call me back nobody did or even tried. I’ve sent 10 + emails to Sales and Customer Support, I’ve spent 25 mins for the last 2 weeks on the phone trying to sort out and only people I can speak to are Sales who cannot do anything and actually yes hung up twice on me when I said I wanted to speak to the most senior person.
However I did find out through the online chat what is happening as I said I was a new customer interested in placing an order, I gave them the make and spec the same as my order and asked how long would it take to order. Guess what they told me, 4-6 weeks because the motherboard is out of stock. So there you have it, that is the reason why I cannot get any sense from them. I have to lie to be a new customer about to place an order for 50 PC’s to get the truth from them.
Then I thought right I would cancel my order as I am not waiting over 2 months when told it would take 14 days. Called Sales who said I couldn’t cancel over the phone, could I send a fax. A fax what land do they live in, I am a home user I don’t have a fax machine. Then ok send us an email, and we will send you an automatic reply 1 hour later. So yes you guessed it I sent them an email and no as I thought no automatic reply. I sent another mail the same day still no reply. The following day 2 more emails and still they haven’t cancelled. So I called Sales again, this time they said they would cancel it immediately and yes I did receive the email (infact I received 2 one saying thank you for placing an order (I don’t think so) and 2nd saying it has been cancelled. However no mention of when I get my money refunded the email said and here it is :-
“Notice of Cancellation of order – xxxxxxxx
Following the receipt of your cancellation request we confirm that this order has now been cancelled.
We would be more than happy to discuss with you how we may reverse the cancellation and as such, would ask you to contact our sales team by email or telephone, quoting the above order number. Our advisors are available from 9am – 6pm Monday to Friday on 0844 736 0440. Alternatively, don’t hesitate to email us at sales@meshcomputers.com.”
So no mention of when I get my money refunded. I have by the way said I would be delighted to have a chat with them and given my mobile for about the 10th time have they called have they hell. I have sent 3 emails back over the last day to ask when will I get a refund still no reply. I have called the main number they couldn’t help, put me through to a number and after 25 mins of waiting on an expensive line I gave up once again. its a joke.
This afternoon I have called my Credit Card company and I am going to put in a claim form to let my Bank chase them for goods failed to be delivered after 30 days with no delivery date given at any point. I am also sending a letter to Trading Standards and Ofcom, Watchdog and anyone else I can think of to tell as many people as possible what a company Mesh is. They take your money and fail to tell you what is happening with your order. Plus the number you dial is a premier number I’ve had to call at work as my phone bill would be over £40 I reckon infact I will probably have to own up at work and pay some of it.
The whole company should be shutdown, I hate to think what happens if you have a problem with your PC in terms of getting it fixed. No wonder you get a 2 year warranty. Stay well clear everyone in the world don’t make the same mistake you will regret it.
I have recently ( 8th April 2011 ) tried to order a System from MESH. The delivery date came and went and they told me they did not have the CPu. Eventhough they took my money on day one almost a month later ( 4th may ) they still do not have the CPU. I find it almost impossible to get through to customer services on the phone without a 25 minute wait. I emailed to say if they did not answer me the next day I would cancel. Next day , no reply. I have today cancelled and asked for a refund. I now wait and will keep you posted.
Just to add to this list. I too am waiting for a refund for a cancelled order. I cancelled it on the 10/03/2011 in writing and received a confirmation email dated 16/03/2011 stating that my order had been cancelled and that I would receive a refund within 15-30 days. I have emailed them several times and in fact last Friday actually spoke to someone in their accounts dept who after taking my card details again told me the refund would take place within 3-5 days and that I would receive an email comfirming this. Guess what? no email and no money as yet. In the meantime I wrote of my experiences on their forum to add to the other ones which detailed similar experiences and also to forwarn any potential customers only to find some hours later that the forum administrator had closed my thread stating that it was not suitable for that forum and that I was merely ‘letting off steam’ after my problem had been resolved. I did try to reply to this but was unable to as he had banned me from using the forum for ever!! (So much for free speech). I have also taken my business elsewhere and am happily sat at my new p.c. which took just 2 weeks from order to collection and I was kept informed all through the process . If interested the company are PC Specialists and they know how to treat customers. I cannot praise them too highly. As per the comment by Mathew I tried to get my credit card company to refund me but they said there was nothing they could do!
I have had the same experience. I’ve been victim to illegal scams that were less pleasant experiences than ordering a PC from Mesh – or even worse trying to get a refund.
Sympathies – Have had an almost identical experience. Natwest’s Fraud team say that the name Mesh Computers “is not unknown to us” and that there is no realistic chance that my laptop will be delivered. Mesh refused to refund my card immediately and said that they had 30 days to do it “because of the Distance Selling Regulations”. The Distance Selling Regulations have nothing at all to do with it. In fact, they give the consumer the right to cancel within 7 days or delivery. I should know – I’m a lawyer! And what really kills me is this. I only chose them because of their standard 2 year collect and return warranty and because when I last bought a computer 7 or 8 years ago, they were rated number 1 by PC Advisor for customer service! Ayayay. My advice is to call your credit card company and get a refund that way – you’re entitled under the Consumer Credit Act.
Mesh computers are a disgrace. Still chasing a PC ordered 40 days ago- what happened to the advertised 14 working days’ delivery period? Customer Services absolutely hopeless. Will never use them again. Don’t fancy my chances if there are problems with the computer.
If you do decide to use Mesh, according to their T&Cs you can cancel and get a refund for any standard product configuration right up to the date of despatch (but according to Shaun that won’t be easy). Order any upgrades (as I did) and you are stuffed as soon as they begin production. I agree with Shaun that they are sitting on customer payments to improve their cash flow. This suggests that they are close to the edge and therefore best avoided. Tell your friends!

I’ve got my new computer for just over a month now from arbico, how pleased I am with it. It’s worked like a dream from the first moment it was switched on, is whisper quiet and very fast. I am very impressed with the tidy layout and general build quality. An awesome company with great support.
I would have told you that would happen.
Sorry we weren’t around to help you out
