Heart Colchester just did an interview with me to discuss the Colchester United footballer Jamie Guy who has just been fined for domestic abuse against his girlfriend. the interview focussed on the paltry penalty the court levied against this individual who has plenty of other offences to his name.
The fine is a paltry £350 and acts as no deterrent to Jamie Guy or anyone else of a similar ilk and there are plenty of them. He must of left court grinning that whilst he is a third rate striker on the football field he finally managed to hit the back of the net with this one.
Heart FM also asked what message this sends out to those who go through life with similar social skills, I replied that it tells them they can act according to how they feel without fear of repurcussions that would even register on their daily lifestyle.
In truth it leaves women completly exposed and with the ineptitude of Essex Police and the criminal justice system the trend of men beating and abusing women will continue. Perhaps when Colchester United realise just how poor this player is and he gets dropped to an even lower level of football than he is now that he may sign for the Essex Police FC – keep him sweet then eh Inspector?
