First Mortgage Advisor

Well the first mortgage advisor came and went, I have to say that he was OK but rather dull.

I explained to him what I wanted to do but he didn’t listen, he was happy to talk about the virtues of Colchester and that its the oldest town etc but of course I know this already. From an advice perspective I asked the direct question about whether a fixed rate mortgage is currently a good idea and if so what term should I look for, he could not give me any real direction on the proposition.

I was a little dissapointed really, I felt that the question should of led to us discussing the range of fixed mortgage deals that are on offer and perhaps why a two year term is a better option than a 5 year term or vice versa if that is the case. Sadly he was not drawn to that discussion and seemed more interested in how much work he had on and how many remortgages he was working on.

I have another mortgage guy scheduled for next week and will look to have my house valued around the same time, of course I have a rough idea so I know roughly what I am looking to borrow but the time is right to progress the actual selling process and a mortgage is only part of that, for all I know it could take a year to get interest such is the state of the housing market.
