Essex Police
Essex Police Cover Up
Update on the case as of 01/09/2010
After many months of inactivity I have decided to update this page due to the unprecedented number of comments and feedback forms I am getting regarding Essex Police and their performance. I have only published a small selection of the complaints about the performance of Essex Police in the comments below but the tidal wave is evident.
Quite clearly the feedback implies that most of Essex is disenchanted by the police in Essex and the way they operate, in relation to my daughters case all contact from the liaison officer for Essex Police – a certain Jason Gwillim – was dropped by him and his superiors after some spectacular gaffes on his part. I guess the sheer embarrassment of his mistakes became too much to endure and having to face them every time he spoke with me just showed why I should have no confidence in this process.
Summary of Incident and Essex Police Performance
Clearly there was never any real intention by Essex police to make amends or to offer clarity, the promised report of the mistakes made in this case was retracted when it became apparent the report would support a complaint against Essex Police for their abysmal performance. In fact I knew all along that this was just another PR stunt design to go through the motions, Essex Police and Jason Gwillim never had any credibility and all their false sincerity was designed solely to drag out any potential complaint procedure that I may of initiated.
For my part the report was obviously crucial, this police report was in theory going to publish to me the exact chain of mistakes made in this case, documented would have been a number of important facts.
- On the night of this particular crime Essex police didn’t apply an incident number as they wrongly got it confused with a different incident – this single point meant that no case could be created.
- The fact there was no incident number recorded and the confusion over another unrelated crime somehow created a situation whereby the police did not attend and collect evidence at the time, this second point compounded the first and ensured that no case could be properly presented to the CPS.
- The incident took place in Clacton and my Daughter lived in Colchester, neither force reacted to 999 calls because they each assumed it was the others responsibility.
- We were never kept up to date with important events, there is a mandate that victims and witnesses must be kept informed, Essex Police forgot to inform us of crucial court dates where as witnesses we could be called, the Domestic Violence unit in Colchester were also supposed to liaise this information to the victim – How does that happen, how can this type of mistake be made when there is already a spotlight on the case and Jason Gwillim was supposed to be managing the relationship?
- The case was officially dropped because Tim Newcomb – the Divisional Commander alleged that we never made a complaint in the first place – Wrong, we made complaints and statements, there was a hearing but we were not informed or empowered to attend, the case was thrown out due to LACK OF EVIDENCE
Clearly this amounts to a lie!
So there is no surprise that the police report detailing the mistakes was promised, and promised to me and Catherine in my office by Jason Gwillim and then WITHDRAWN a week later without further conversation, just a silence.
The current situation is one of quiet calm, my daughter and my wife have put this behind them, there is no way forward for justice only the lessons we have learned along the way, Essex Police are a self contained group of public servants who are self protected with their own agenda. We can live with that and move on, energy need not be wasted on this anymore and at the end of the day we are the better people as are many thousands of others who have the misfortune to think they can rely on the people empowered to protect only to find its not part of their mandate.
Of course at the top of this chain of events sits the silence of Tim Newcomb, I have never been an activist and until this problem my disillusionment with Essex Police was purely a private affair where I grumbled over coffee with other disillusioned professional people.
My real concern now is that there are so many disadvantaged people who rely on the police to serve them – Yes that is the role of the Police force to serve and protect, who is fighting their cause, they have no publicity and no voice – Clearly with the report withheld there is NO ACCOUNTABILTY at any level in Essex Police and who knows that could be the same across the country.
I will consider how I move forward now this is over, certainly I will take a delight in bringing into the public domain any other failings that we experience as a family, posts will continue to come into this blog and others that I manage, the press will continue to follow this hoping for their story, I wonder if at any point I will get positive swings in feedback for Essex Police, if it happens I will evaluate and publish.
Keep Watching!!

Original Post about Essex Police and their cover up
My disgust with this has prompted Essex Police to try and distance themselves but their stance was one of ‘he has rights as well’.
I am going to rewrite the catalogue of errors and the whole case here now, it is clear that those we put our trust in are happy to put the vulnerable at risk and believe we are stupid into the bargain.
When you see somebody you love battered, bruised and bleeding from senseless and random brutality you expect the police (in our case the Essex Police) and the government to protect them – Not Any More!!
So Why Am I Doing This?
The answer is that I am sick of the police hiding behind all the public relations posters whilst failing at their jobs!! And because I am very very good at this!!!!
I have decided to try and raise the awareness of people in general to the apathy and complete disdain of the Essex Police in relation to violent crime against women. They are in good company as the CPS and the police chiefs such as Tim Newcomb are just as inept but also try to cover up their tracks when called to account for their failings. In fact when the MP Douglas Carswell who is the local Tory MP for Clacton and Harwich tried to get more information the response from Essex Police to his official letter was to lie and mislead him.
So shocked am I by the way the case for my Daughter was handled that I have helped to launch a website aimed at domestic violence and the stories from everyday people about their experiences. In our case the police repeatedly fail to gather any evidence when they are called and subsequently despite making statements and complaints the CPS refuse to put away the man doing all the beating.
To raise the awareness of the failings of the police and to get other people to have the chance to talk about their similar experiences I am helping my wife Catherine to set up a national blog and website to highlight the chasm that the Criminal Justice system has opened up that swallows quietly the plight of women leaving them battered, bruised, bleeding and at the mercy of evil violent men.
The full story will be revealed in a national and then international blog that will throw open the doors on this problem and the complete apathy of those who are trusted to protect women when the violence blights their everyday life.
If Essex Police, the CPS and MP’s think this is just somebody blowing off steam then think again, I run a powerful digital media agency that delivers profile at the sharp end of search engines such as Google, into social media such as Twitter and Facebook and into facilities such as Youtube.
I was responsible four years ago for picking up the knife crime initiative for Ann Oakes Odger who had a big heart that was broken through the loss of her son to a senseless knife crime, she now sits in Whitehall and discusses knife crime policy with government think tanks.
She started with just a petition and now her website Knife Crimes has sat at the top of Google for three years, it gets tens of thousands of visitors and is enrolled into every worthwhile initiative in the country as well as around the world.
I have direct news feeds into Google, my expert staff are passionate and protective and get behind good causes and currently I can think of no better a cause than to try and bring to account those that sit behind their cosy PR machines.
Last night I sat in a police station for four hours whilst Catherine received an official caution – the offence was common assault and its another tick in the statistical box for a crime solved………
But scratch the surface a little…… Ah yes, then you get to see the real picture, a picture of a woman who drove to Clacton to pick up her 23 year old daughter on an early summer eve in June to find her beaten unconcious and laying on the pavement, standing over her was a violent thug who had her daughters blood on his hands.
This woman was my wife Catherine, she leapt out of the car and slapped and pushed the thug from her daughter before helping her into the car and then straight to the casualty department.
A 999 call to the police was greated with complete disdain, the thug was not arrested, he never had any forensic tests to take the blood samples, the tissue samples and fibres etc, they never took samples from her daughter because they didnt turn up for a week.
Three weeks later the thug walked into the police station and made a complaint that Catherine assualted him, he is 6ft 3ins and big built with it, she is 5ft 2ins and of small build, as a result of that complaint she was informally arrested, charged with common assault and issued with a caution and the immortal words from the Inspector and I quote ‘We have done you a favour by not taking you to court’!!!!!!!!
The victims are Catherine and her Daughter.
More………….. Oh and there is more, some months back the same thug saw my Daughter in Colchester town centre, he ran after her and caught her in full view of Saturday shoppers, she managed to dial 999 and Essex police got the full audio recording of this thug beating her unconcious whilst she screamed for help that never came, the sound of her head being repeatedly smashed against paving stones whilst he screamed he is going to ‘kill her’ must of been damming??? Actually not so, this offence and others that were accumulated saw him serve just two weeks in prison, the non molestation order that was actioned at our own cost was breached the moment he got out from prison.
So in desperation we went to the head of Essex Police and also the local MP, the MP wrote back yesterday with the sign off and I quote ‘Your daughter obviously holds responsibility for her own security’. In the same letter Tim Newcomb, Chief Superintendent of tells him that as far as he is concerned our Daughter has ‘failed to make a complaint and therefore the case against the thug has been dropped’ whilst this is an outright lie it is also a clear indication that women are responsible for their own safety and that the Police and the Government bodies wash their hands of this violent crime.
As a last footnote for today - When I was in the police station waiting for Catherine to be charged I saw the walls festooned with brochures and advertising campaigns about violence instigated against women, statistics such as 1 in 4 women will experience violence from men in their livetimes were highlighted but I realise now that this is just PR ………………… Its just a public relations front and that behind the scenes there are tragedies every day that just fall into the chasm created by those we trust to protect our loved ones.
The only avenue left to us is to pick up on what we are good at and raise public awareness that those very people they are ready to fall back on in times of danger will just let them fall whilst picking points from the carcases to massage their crime figures.
Catherine never committed a real assault, it was never a real crime, it was the reaction of somebody desperate to get their daughter away from more brutality, its as unjust as somebody serving a sentence for a crime they never did and allows the real thugs that blight our every day life to carry on with immunity.
And for anybody who wants to see the letter from our MP Douglas Carswell use that link but this was his response after the Essex Police misled him to try and cover up poor policing!!
Update 7th-09-09.
The case has been back to court twice now, the first time he did not appear and we are awaiting news of today, in the meantime he has been arrested on other charges several times and associated with burglary and drug crime. This is all whilst he is out on BAIL can you believe it and he still walks the streets!
Of course we all saw that bold statements made by the new police chief for Essex stating that criminals need to bring thier toothbrush when entering Essex for crime but as always it is just public relations. I will be blogging to a much higher density soon and will be looking at the new Essex top brass real soon.
Update 17th-09-09
Case was back in court this week, I had a victim support letter through that advised me the case had been adjourned, the reason for the adjournment is that he did’nt enter a plea!! This is one account of not turning up followed by another account where he just didn’t enter a plea.
That means he gets his liberty for longer and is able to stroll round the streets of Essex causing mayhem still. The week before this case he was arrested for burglary and another public order offence. I assume that Essex Police again collected no real evidence and that this man walked after again securing bail, how can he get bail so he can go on making normal decent peoples lives a misery, what about the victims of his next burglary?
Update 28th-09-09
The thug didn’t turn up for his court appearance today, now there is a warrant for his arrest, why was he granted bail in the first place as his history is one of not turning up and when you add to that all the extra crime he committed whilst left out on the streets how many EXTRA victims are there now.
How can this not be embarressing for the police and the justice system??
This is such a scam and I am starting to wonder why Essex Police need this guy out on our streets habitually offending?
Update 08th-10-09
Had the official computer generated letter today to inform me of the outcome of this case, the thug was arrested and appeared in court where Essex police OFFERED NO EVIDENCE and the case is dropped!!
So thats it, all charges dropped, so what now? Well there is only one thing I can do and that is ruin the public relations front for Essex Police online and through all digital media channels, now the case is over I can name the people involved including the perpetrator without prejuding the outcome.
Clacton Police Station – Another unhappy memory from the officers there…….

Shaun thank you for responding to my query it is very much appreciated; along with your response and the reponses from some of your other readers as well as other people I have come into contact with I have some reassurance in knowing I am not alone in my experiences. To say I was (and still am) shocked, traumatized, in disbelief and despair at what happened to me when I needed help is indeed an understatement. I urge people and hope your other readers do to have any letters to MP’s witnessed and countersigned, any in person meetings, even initial contacts whom ever they are with have someone with you to witness events.
Douglas never got involved, he made all the right noises but it was never helpful in any way and dropped it like a stone, you see he loves getting publicity for easy stunts but is not going to get involved in anything political with local authority and police issues that is not superficial.
Having read the response from Douglas Carswell of the 14 Aug 2009 I looked for news of whether his invitation was taken up and if so what the outcome was but so far one does not appear to have been posted. If you able to would you update?
Just to show how lazy the clacton police are, I have been beaten up, glasses smashed into my face twice in two months just taking my dog for a walk ,I know who they are but all the police say is I have to get the witnesses, do they not investigate any more.or could it be that in my case the attacker’s father’s partner works for the cps who in my experience are a big part of the problem.
Hi Roger,
I hear this all the time, mostly people post with too many details and I am unable to use it, Essex Police, Southend Police, Clacton Police, the complaints come in about them all.
I also get a lot of posts that I cannot publish because I am unable to validate them which If I published the content leaves me exposed myself.
I read your story with interest as it followed the experience I had and I also felt the same as you, 30 years of belief that the police are there to protect citizens but then when you really need them you find that the police system has its own agenda which does not involve looking after the likes of us.
Their agenda is based around who do they need to protect which obviously includes themselves, some people have a level of impunity with the crime they commit and this is no surprise once you have turned to the police for help.
You know the most scary part of this is that I have not had a single positive message about the police in Essex, not one!!!!!
Of course this does not surprise me as local officers have their own interpretation of the law and there are very few with any real integrity.
Look to your local MP they can be good sometimes and make things uncomfortable for the superiors too, quite often people are protected maybe because they either have friends in the force or they are useful in some other way.
Don’t expect any understanding or sympathy and one of their biggest tools of undermining you is to get the caution in place, it then makes you the criminal, I know because my wife got a caution for protecting her unconcious daughter!!!!!
Kind regards
Shaun
Essex Police fail me a member of the public not once but twice regarding violence against me by the same person
The 1st time 18 months ago using his range rover to as a weapon to knock me over and run over my foot. The police took 3months to take a statement from me but by then had already made a decision not to take any action.
The 2nd time 2 days ago after a an unexpected meeting with his spouse where there was a heated exchange of words the iindividual came to my home and threatened my wife and I resulting in him striking me to the ground. The police were called but have yet to take a statement on that issue but decided to act immediately on the verbal exchange which took place by arresting me on a section 5, Iwas taken to the police station where the matter was resolved with an £80 ticket fine.
The police although promising to make contact to arrange a time to take statements have not done so, it does raise in ones mind what hold or connection do you need to be treated fairly or for them to take no action against
someone with a physically violent anger problem. The problem is we have a chief constable who is not up job of managing or enabling essex police to do the job we the public expect from the force . It is neglect of duty from the top down.
Normally I don’t comment on your posts but I wanted to let you know I have placed a link to your page on my blog. I was thinking that maybe you could benefit from my visitors since we have somewhat similar pages.
Regards, Boris Hardney
I would appreciate a link back
Another Great Essex Police Experience
Driving back from Devon I was harrassed by two policemen from Clacton on Sea at 2am in the morning on the A12. Great work boys you really showed what integrity is needed to wear your uniforms.
A mandatory blog post will be made about the incident.
You should be ashamed.
You know you are embarrassing yourself here, I said inciteful because I meant inciteful, as in provocative and agitative, its actually what you try to be but fail so miserably because you are inept.
So just to try and help you -
I do not allow inciteful posts, that is – posts that would incite people or emotions or for that matter the law beyond what is pertinent to the discussion, I would have no problem publishing insightful posts as indeed most of those published are insightful, they are an insight into the real situation.
This might help you grasp it – http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=inciteful
You are such an embarrassment lol but its the last comment you get published as your single point IQ level puts you below the minimum allowed to make contributions and means you can add nothing that is of any use at all.
I could spend all day laughing about your use of words and grammar and especially spelling but thats not really the right thing to do nor would it be a problem normally, many do publish insightful points of view here who have some degree of difficulty in this area, its your inability to be part of anything of value that is the problem which is no doubt a reflection of your life in general so ta ta.
I would love to know your agenda, that must be 20 times you tried to post this abuse, I have nothing to hide and there must be 8 or 9 comments a month that I am unable to publish because they are too damming or too inciteful with Essex police, I do appreciate and fully understand that the disenchanted are more likely to post than the enchanted but even so I have not had one single comment in praise of Essex Police and the way they operate, their relationship with the general public seems as bad as ever and there is little sign of confidence in anything from response to behaviour.
Your illiterate ramblings in all your posts seem to be slightly obsessive and with yet further attempted comments it is obvious you have had no education and are unable to spell or grasp the English language, this somewhat removes the point of commenting in the first place since its impossible to understand what it is you are saying and what point you make.
Please use English with real words then maybe I can interpret your point of view without being completely bored.
………………………………………… you spell it insightful not
inciteful you idiot LOL very very loud at the real illiterate

My house is very much in order, the problem with people like you is that you appease the police force by only knowing a very small part of the picture. Your rant about my family is so far off the real situation that it clearly shows you have an agenda.
Essex police are seriously flawed in many ways, Essex police cover their own backs and also roll out the ‘big guns’ to try and grey the real situation when somebody like myself has the power to take them to task in public.
Your grasp of the situation is very simplistic, much of your rant is both hearsay and second or third party information but the real point you miss is that whoever you are or whatever you are, in this country you have rights, the police are public servants and are here to serve everybody not just their own agendas.

Its you who has his head up his ass you are very willing to lie you say you wont publish email addresses but you posted tony wilis email when it states mail will not be published if you lie on this point you are willing to lie on any point which invalidates all you say on hear and you haven’t the guts or integrity to let this post be published, shame on you.
Home Office state we must inform IPCC of police corruption.
They have the power to act. We have carried out our public
duty and the MP for Brighton has informed the IPCC.
Their answer is, thanks very much we are independent the police will be in touch with you to sort it out.
Not if we can help it! Mike Coughtrey
Hi very gud site,I have had a few problems with the essex police, in one year my family and i had seven crimes comitted against us every time i contacted the they didn`t have the man power to deal with it,These range from assult on both my son`s phones stolen my house broken in to.and car. What realy pisses me off is that they can put between eight and ten officers on the oneway system on Canvey and fine everyone for no seatbelt and on a phone.
There ploice have no intrest in real crime unless it hits the news and then they have to act.
I think the whole of the essex force needs reforming from the top down i hate essex police as soon as that uniform goes on they think they are untouchable and they respect should be given,Well news for them i will never respect them…..
Hi! If you consider all the comments above whether
‘for’ or ‘against’ it is obvious that the lack of a fair
and truly independent complaints system is the problem.
This holds true for the many professional bodies, eg
solicitors ect who have their own cover-up complaints
organisations. Now if the police were proud enough to
want their force to be recognised as honest servants
of the public they would want any complaint to be dealt with
and to either clear their name or put matters to right. I would
suggest that Douglas Carswell and other MPs move to reform
the complaints system so that the public can have trust in the
manner their complaints are dealt with. Regards Mike Coughtrey.
Hi! 3 months have passed and not a word regarding
Simon Kirby MP and the IPCC. My innocent brother
was locked up on remand for 15 months in 2007. To
bring the police to justice for false statements is still
ongoing even with the help[ of an MP. See my previous
comments. Regards Michael Coughtrey.
Government are not responsible for police actions.
Simon Kirby MP, the Home Office and, surprise surprise,
the Chief of Police advise the IPCC as the only way forward.
Am I about to uncover another source of corruption??
We have been advised by brighton MP to take case to IPCC!
Hi Anon,
Thank you for your comment, as you can see I am more than happy to post unedited comments, in fact almost all comments are posted unedited, what I can say is that some are either too extreme and some are plainly just an attack for the sake of it. Tony Willis launched a personal attack that had no foundation and I was not prepared to let that comment receive airtime just to fulfil his need for attacking vulnerable people.
Clearly I hold back comments that are too extreme about the police, people comment with vendetta as their primary motive on both sides so be under no illusion that I don’t screen each way. You are correct about the facts not being published and the MP clearly showed that your very own Mr Newcomb was the main propogator in that and this has been quickly followed up by Mr Gwillim in his blatant Chameleon role as liason officer.
The problem is that the blog speaks for many people not just myself, almost all comments are critical and very few are praise for Essex police, being in the force you will only see it from your side. I would publish all pro police comments so long as they are genuine and not just police propaganda but there are none to publish.
In addition to this the issue that there is no transparency with anything that is unjust or incorrect, the policy of covering up and smoke screening genuine issues merely fuels frustration and a feeling that there is no justice but just as importantly no accountability.
For a senior commander to tell an MP the case was dropped because there were no witness statements is a complete lie but more importantly is unjust, for a senior liason officer such as Mr Gwillim to promise me a report listing the failings and then to withdraw that promise once he could see how drastic the police failings were is also unjust.
For my wife to get a caution for defending her daughter is also unjust.
Why would I support the system when the system will not support everyday people?
As for using my talents constructively I have just finished a two hour interview with Panorama about the unjust way a financial institution bully their customers for money, that programme will go on air soon with a damming endightment of their customer behavior.
I know that a number of ex employees of The Barn Brasserie have just been paid their rightful wage after an 18 month campaign and the involvement of the Department of Employment, HMRC and the minimum wage department was driven by my blog.
For the record I have barely used my everyday expertise to raise the profile of these issues and I could do so much more utilising social media, Google News and a much broader search footprint but I am happy for the people to drive it for the moment.
With respect to people supporting the police, the community is under seige and the police have rich pickings overlooking the more challenging tasks in favour of easy targets, people like my wife who are prosecuted for self defence and just ‘not knowing’ the system like the crooks, motorists, people defending their own property, teenagers like those who use a field I have for motocross who would rather do something constructive with their spare time enjoying a sport only to experience constant harrassment from the local police, yet you can walk through our local towns as a pedestrian and just pick out the drug dealers dishing out misery in full view of the authorities who are too busy on soft targets to make that difference.
Go into your community and ask them why they have no confidence in you all and then come back and post again.
Shaun,
I stumbled across your website today and am deeply saddened to learn of your experiences.
I do feel however that your selective publishing of responses (reference to the comments you responded to, but did not publish the original text, from Tony Wilis) and your vast generalisations over the performance of Essex police as a whole does not paint a fair picture of the operational policing that takes place everyday in Essex.
You have made it very clear that you feel there have been failings in the treatment of your step daughters case and subsequently with how your complaint was dealt with, however as the letter from your MP would suggest, not all of the facts have been published here.
I think you are doing a huge disservice to the majority of hard working and dedicated police officers, both in the regular service and the special constabulary in Essex and nationally.
I’d be the first to admit that the police don’t always get it right but they are all human beings after all. In the vast majority of cases they do.
You clearly have a talent for hosting web based debates so why not use this talent in a positive way? Why not work with the police to improve the service provided instead of going on a witch hunt? Why not suggest you spend a night shift with an operational police unit to wirness for yourself the demands placed on front line officers?
Your crusade to paint the police service and its management in a negative light is simply paving the way for a wider lack of confidence in the policing of Essex which will only lead to more crime going unreported and more victims feeling isolated and helpless. If you truly stand on the side of righteousness then I would suggest you question your motives.
If the police had more support from the community then I am convinced there would be fewer incidents such as you have described. I’m not suggesting the communities are at fault here but the challenge of policing our communities has never been greater and with decreasing budgets things are only set to get worse unless the law abiding public revert back to the long lost community spirit that I believe the police are working hard to rekindle.
Our society is full of people willing to spout out complaints when things don’t go there way, but when given the forum to actually work to make things better, there is a very short list of volunteers.
I hope you can find it in yourself to resolve your personal grievance as this is clearly having a profound effect on you. I also hope you can take my comments as they are intended and find it in yourself to move on and work with the police in your community and with other members of the public to make Essex a safer place to live and work in.
Anon.
Shaun
You are spot on in exposing Essex Police for what they really are. Their arrogance is totally beyond belief. I had a problem when my ex partner made false allegations of assault against me. They would not listen, or collect statements and they lied in interview. They were not interested in my version of events even when presented with evidence and thought that they were in a better position than Magistrates or a Judge in which to take decisions. It took approximately eleven months to get to court because the police didn’t submit a file. All the time this was going on my ex was not turning up for contact meetings and therefore my youngest daughter barely knows who I am even now. No apology after a not guilty verdict not to mention the damage this has done to my youngest daughter. God himself only knows how much time and public money was wasted on this when it could have been spent on a real victim. Not that the police will care, its not their money, they are unaccountable and above all else, it’s not happening to them.
Keep up the good work Shaun, exposing them is the one thing that they are most afraid of!!!!
i too have come to realise the incompetance and arrogance of essex police
they are dishonest to the last
i won’t go into detail ( not that i have anything to hide )
all i can say is that your incident does not suprise me and i hope all turns out well for you and yours
Shaun,
I stumbled across your website today and found it a very entertaining read. Then i saw the thread about your daughter being a victim of domestic violence. I am saddened to read of her predicament. As a serving police officer myself (formerly in Essex) i couldnt agree more about your comments regarding Mr Newcombe and secondly the police’s PR facade whilst failing to grip the real issues behind domestic violence and crime in general because of political interference, shocking management from senior officers and gross underfunding from central government. I can assure you that as somebody in the job it frustrates the life out of me.
I would point out to you as i am sure that you are aware that our job is not assisted in the best way by our friends at the CPS. 30 years ago they worked for the police, now it is the other way round. They make inexplicable decisions and i am surprised that more stringent measures were not taken against the perpertrator in your daughters case. Equally though, i am not surprised at the pathetic caution issued to your wife, clearly a box ticking excercise so another detected ‘crime’ could be put onto the books.
The police nationally have been hammered by New Labour’s target culture along with the NHS and School’s. This has diverted us from the real issues. As difficult as it is though please please dont think that the police arent out there every day doing their best. We really are doing that in spite of poor leadership and blinkered vision from the likes of Mr Newcombe. I wish you and your family all the best and keep up the good work.

on a different note i knew Ann Oakes Odger son westley and the sad fact is the area of shops that he died in is nutorious on Greenstead estate for drug dealers and trouble yet cctv is very low priority and you never see any police there unless they need to buy any thing and are in the area or they are called after a crime..the police seem scared to deal with the real problems and instead target the young teenagers who pose little risk compared to the heroin dealers sat outside the shops dealing all day ..murder victim, Graham Reeve might still be alive if patrols in the area were more current ..but dont get me started on that one ..the sentance imposed on tricia levett was laughable …what happened to all this joint enterprise?
You dont need to look far to see how corrupt the police force and system is THATS A FACT .
Crimestoppers say “Dont have nightmares” lol not a problem everyones to scared to go to sleep ..
Unfortunatly i have many grim stories about essex police it would be easier to sum all my experiences up in one sentance…”police are just legitimate crimainals with a badge” ..their shortcomings never fail to suprise me .. an honest copper is extinct ..the public have no faith in the police and the criminal justice system as quite frankly IT STINKS.
As a matter of interest, unless I have missed it somewhere, you have not named the man who committed the assaults etc. Why is that?
———————-
He is not named due to the fact that any court case could be infringed thanks to the way the system works where criminals have a protected rights position that enables them them to exploit any possible advantage. Given that Essex police are so inept at presenting a case in the first place it would not make sense to offer a further evasion tool.
It is well known how poorly the public are served by Essex police, I get up to 10 mails a day from people who have genuine gripes and issues, only a fraction of these are published here and the density of feedback is at such a negative level from such a wide demographic that the feeling is of no confidence.

I have every sympathy with the blog ,i don’t no about the whole of Essex police but Clacton on Sea police are the most sadistic abusers of there privileged position I have ever come across.I no because I had the misfortune to live under one whilst my husband was recovering from cancer,we had about 7 months of torture from this police officer and many colleges staying and visiting,it consisted of 24 7 noise deprivation and sleep deprivation to one night my husband was really ill and I had to call a doctor out she the police officer was asked to keep the noise down,It got louder,In the morning there was a full sized DEAD body outline on our side of the drive in that yellow chalk/paint, we took her trough the police complaints system they found no case to answer, no surprise really they investigate themselves.
Sadly our corrupt police are only interested in sucking up to their political masters by publishing fake crime figures. If you are English, white, own a house and car then you will be targeted to raise revenue and ballance crime figures. A policeman friend told me that police have to target and prosecute English people because 95% of crime is commited by non English, but this fact is unacceptable to our political correct leaders, so by persecuting the English and falsifying the crime figures, the police can’t be accused of racialism.
We are seeking a reform of the police
complaints system. Progress on this wii be
posted on our ‘Brighton Scandal’ site.
Regards Mike.
Cried as I read your experiences with essex police. Similar happened to me last year although not so badly. I am a pensioner and was hit and kicked on my own doorstep by a woman. Called the police for help but they didn’t come for over an hour. In meantime the woman made a counter allegation and I was arrested. The police took no statement from me, neither did they question me. Was offered a caution but would not accept it as I had not done anything wrong. This displeased the police and I now realise by accepting it this would have ‘tidied up their paperwork’. I am a decent human being but was not treated as one by the police. It is still hard to live with what happened when I called for help. The values I grew up with have disappeared as far as the police are concerned. The woman continues to intimidate me.
Essex police stopped me for having to tax because their computer told them, I had tax in my window and have never been without it, they kept me for 30 mins and made my son late for school before letting me go, no apology, no climb down, arrogance and rudeness from beginning to end despite my innocence and protests.
Shame on Essex Police
Hi,I find that your web log is extremely beneficial and useful and we wonder if there can be a possibility of obtaining More web content like this on your website. If you willing to assist us out, we would be willing to compensate you… Best wishes, Alexis Noa
Google led me to this blog post, and it is exactly what I was looking for, thanks for everything and I am crawling through the info now, I know that my own problems with essex police are alongside the problems you experienced. essex police will be getting a complaint from me now that i have been inspired by your blog.
I have many friends (and a few relatives) in Essex Police and, like in any job there are useless individuals who shouldn’t be there. I’m sure as hell not going to try and defend the actions of those wasters mentioned earlier above but I will tell you of my experiences. I had a motorbike stolen, the police actually caught the scumbag riding it. He was a known convicted thief and was charged with the theft. The CPS (Criminal Protection Service) said there was insufficient evidence and reduced the charge to interfering with a motor vehicle. When the case came to court the CPS offered no evidence and case was dropped. The Government want police to hit targets and if they are to do that they are forced to go for guaranteed convictions. The CPS are lazy and incompetent, judges are told there are insufficient prison cells so don’t give custodial sentences and the upper end of the Police is staffed with bloody “managers” who are only interested in budgets and sucking up to their bosses. get rid of all the civilians in the the police, get more proper coppers, let them go back to old fashioned policing and make the courts (and those idiots in the CPS) give them more support – then we might see more dedicated people coming back into the force.
I have been to your website before. The more I learn, the more I keep coming back! ;~)
I’ve bookmarked this because I found it helpful. I would be very interested to hear more info on this. Cheers!
The Telegraph
I work for Essex Police and am disgusted by the service we provide, or rather dont provide , and the arrogance of officers lack of interest or the whole “damn public getting in the way of us doing nothing” attitude

Useless!!! can’t believe this story! i hope this gets out to as many people as possible. And why not just have the thug K##### off! would be alot easier!
I have followed this story for some time, it seems quiet at the moment but there is no update reference Douglas Carswell or Tim Newcomb.
Also what has now happened to the case?
I am amazed at the public interest a small blog post has stirred up.
Please update the latest news.
Reporter.
I am not surprised by anything you say. I also have suffered domestic violence. I ended up in a womens refuge because Essex Police did not protect me. This man was obviously insane. One particular attack was when i was dragged out of his car by my hair dragged back into the house by my hair and then had my head smashed against the floor about 20 times. I eventually broke free and ran away. I had blood pouring down my face and two passers by called the police who attended with an ambulance. My ex was arrested. I got a phonecall the following morning saying my ex had been released without charge despite the fact the ambulance driver wrote a report saying i had a deep laceration and other injuries. Unfortunately for me my ex had a lodger living at his house a police woman! She didnt even see the incident however she went to the police station after my exes sister informed her he had been arrested and proceeded to make a false statement saying he never touched me. The officer who rang me and told me this was very abusive towards me and i became very upset and confused at why they had released my ex without charge. Explaining this to me in a very abusive manner this officer said “Your injuries do not match your statement!” I was gobsmacked and shocked and i still am one year on! I hadnt even made a statement yet as he had arrested him immediately. Turns out this policeman was a friend of my exes lodger! Surprise surprise! The story turns darker when on the following Monday who turns up to arrest me….yes PC Abusive from Basildon Police station and basically does ME for HARASSMENT! Over some text messages i sent to my ex months earlier when he wouldnt stop attacking me and my 12 year old daughter (text messages sent over frustration at Essex Polices treatment of me and inaction). I got caution for harassment but not before this corrupt and abusive officer locked me in a cell for 8 or 9 hours and came and told me through the hatch he wanted to search my property to which i replied “what you looking for text messages?” Hmmm very strange. He told me he didnt like me and continued to arrest me several times after this each time abusing me. It was my ex who arranged all these arrests and he also taunted me afterwards telling me this copper was his mate! I hate Essex police and all they do they are corrupt nasty vile things (not people) total egomaniacs and love nothing more than hurting already vulnerable people. They are still doing this to me now. My daughter was walking to school and got threatened with violence with two of her 12 year old friends by a woman who lives in my street and her huge scary friend. Guess what the police have done nothing except be sarcastic and vile! Im scared to ring the police as they always look bored of you. Ive been a victim of a few crimes in my life and ive never had a good experience. The are utter pigs and this story does not surprise me. Im glad you posted it as now i know im not alone. Hope you get justice in the end as i never did.
Hi my story is different but amounting to the same thing, the people we pay to guide and protect us are corrupt.
I was driving back from Stanstead airport with my 73yr old mother ,niece & nephew I was stopped by Essex police who say that I was on the phone while driving ,I explained that they must be mistaken ,they proceeded to fill out a ticket with my details stating “on the phone while driving” I refused to sign it that but offered to add that “I was not on the phone ” .They then got aggressive threatened to arrest me and then confiscated my phone .(which if they looked at the call history at that time they would see that I wasn’t on the phone ).Then they looked at my car and because I had a cracked windscreen (on the passenger side)they entered my car put a steering lock on it and left myself, my mother and two kids stranded half an hours drive from home .The court is tomorrow and I still have not had my phone back so I can prove I wasn’t on it. I have make a official complaint And is being investigated by one of their own .
Hi Gordon,
I am sorry to hear of yet one more disenchanted person and as you can see the response to this post has mirrored your own disillusionment.
The sad fact is that until the police are accountable they will not perform. The system is set up so that statistics can blur the real picture and those sitting at the top are no more than politicians massaging their public relations.
For our part I have now been told by a third party that the case has been dropped, no feedback or reasons have been given and there is no direct communication telling me so, but I know from somebody sitting in court that the cases were all dropped.
This is disgusting to me because all the advice from the top brass is how they would keep us informed.
firstly i am sorry to hear the abuse your duaghter has suffered at the hands of some one she once had a relationship with, this often makes the situation more difficult to deal with. I understand your totalemotional and mental frustrastion of dealing with the police. I have four children and have raised them to have respect for their fellow man, that includes the police. I have over the past year lost complete trust in the police as in your experience, i have been let down by the police because of the lack of care to do their job. Not to get into detail at this point, my 19yr old son and his friend were attacked by a mob of young people and when the police turned up one of the metro-police kicked my son in the face while he was on the ground while a doorman sat on top of him. Thank God my son is ok and also thank CCTV, because this is captured on CCTV. The case is to go before the CPS, the police are in for a surprise there…
4 months ago i made a 999 call from my hospital bed. I called because i had been threatened by the doctor on duty and i was in great physical disstress, i thought i may die. I have since complained to the IPCC as to why the polioce did not respond to my repeated 999 calls, they pasted on the complaint to Surrey police whom after doing their bit, concluded that they made the right decision not to attend my 999 call because “obviously” i am not dead. They nver mention anything about the doctors threat, this is just something else the police sweep under the carpet and hope for it the problem to go away.
Good luck to you i wish you well and all those other people that get less than professional treatment fron the police, i myself am sick to death of all this corruption, i just don’t no what to do anymore..
Over the other side of Essex in Harlow, things are not much better.
I have been a cabbie for 22 years, seen a lot of street crime and been subject of crime myself. Sure, you get a sympathetic officer attend SOMETIMES, however most of the time they are just not interested. If you are white and working, you may as well just bend over and accept the crime.
Very upset, disillusioned and dissapointed with what Policing has become.
As a lad i used to respect police. Not any more. Never seen so much crime in my life as i see nowdays.
God help us all.
Good luck Sean, its a uphill struggle to get Justice, i sincerely hope you do.
Hi, good article, you posted all the same if you don’t mind I’d impart few points out, you shoul be more direct, you sould explain seo more, yo should show visual examples more. apart from that topnotch.
Sadly there is no accountability, it made me smile when anon posted who is undoubtedly a serving officer in Essex Police, his arrogance in trying to portray this as only my problem and that I have a chip on my shoulder astounded me.
There is no doubt that Essex Police are completely unaccountable from top to bottom and are at licence to act as their politics dictate rather than serving the public and their needs.
And still I have heard nothing from Newcomb the Colchester police chief who lied to an MP again with no accountability for his actions.
I aim to push this thread to the top of Google so that more and more people can register their disatisfaction.
As a former believer in the protection of the police for members of the public, I now have no faith or trust in Essex police, after the beating up of my 17 year old son by a policeman I am no longer surprised by anything I hear. After my complaint to the police was covered up and lied about and declared unsubstansiated I am left totally gobsmacked by what has happened to my family and the fact that the thugs responsible have got away with the assault on my son. Now my young son is being harassed by one of the officers involved, it is really time that these people were held to account for their actions
This makes me sad to read, after 15 years out of the force it seems we have lost touch with normal people.
The police are a joke, they dont know what they are doing and just look at the easy stuff or the high profile stuff like murders, yes they have some success with drug raids but most anti social and violent crime is either not reported or not responded to.
The top brass are too busy being politicians and the guys on the ground are like sheep.
Hello Anon,
I posted your comment un-edited as I feel that people are entitled to voice their opinion and it is good for debate.
Firstly though – Your comment suggests that you are part of the Essex police force so the first thing you should grasp is that the Inspectors name is Newcomb and not Newcome.
Secondly this is much more than a chip on my shoulder its a chip on the shoulders of many many people who have lost respect for the police in this county and others. We are talking about everyday hard working people who run businesses, people who work hard and expect to get a credible level of performance from the police.
Add these to all the people who have commented on this blog alone, then add in all the women who have contacted me and my wife through the domestic violence website http://www.domestic-violence.org.uk/ and there is a huge groundswell of public disillusionment with the police from people from all walks of life.
As a police person yourself it is clear that you are also to arrogant to see this and your mandate is merely to try and portray this and other threads as my little chip.
I take the following issue with you – You state that the police are tied to what the cps dictate due to the evidence available – quite right but with domestic violence the police are not collecting the evidence, this is coming through all the time through the website and this means when a case even gets in front of the cps it is so weak it gets canned.
Our case is just typical of many coming through, the police never arrested the perpetrator or took any evidence, he had her blood and tissue on his hands, the same on his clothes and fibres were on her and him, his defence is that she fell over and he never went near her, had the police done their job properly it would be just a formality to convict him. This experience has been the same for the last four assaults, they didn’t even respond to the 999 call after he breached her non molestation order that has powers of immediate arrest.
This series of events is common place for almost all of our contacts that are coming through the domestic violence website at the moment.
I and my friends were always pro police until the last few years, we are all successful people with good families and yet all are now reciting stories of abject police failure, they range from one friend who is a very upstanding businessman who has just had his complaint against Colchester police upheld after they tried to coerce his son into admitting a crime he never committed even saying they had it on cctv, they lied to try and get a young lad to admit to a crime he never did, later cctv video evidence proved it too.
What about the mother of 3 who was stopped for speeding in Weeley a month ago, she was late for a very important smear test due to her son being unwell, caught by traffic police for doing 42 in a 30 limit all she wanted was to get the paperwork over and done with and get to her doctors appointment, she asked the traffic officer to try and finish the paperwork quickly and he arrogantly took as long as he could, he even read every word out on the back of the ticket and when questioned why he smugly replied that it was in case she was partially blind!!! That is a partially blind person driving a car?? No he did it just because he could and he enjoyed her distress, this was witnessed and he kept her 22 minutes to write out a 3 minute speeding ticket.
Then there is the police officer who assured a victim that her husband was now on the domestic abuse register so she will be notified if he moves near her again… there is no such register so she would have been of her guard!
Then we have the lad arrested for having a knife in his haversack, it cost £1500 to defend him before the cps threw out the case, this lad was a chef, he was on his way to work after being dropped close by car, the knife was in a protected wooden scabbard with his chefs uniform, the arresting officer said that it didn’t make any difference that he was on his way to work with the tools of his trade evebn after the restaurant confirmed it by telephone and in writing.
Then we have the carpenter who had his van stolen in Clacton, after two weeks of chasing clacton police for action he went into the station exasperated at the fact that nobody had even called him back, they had not even given him a crime number so he could start an insurance claim, he lost everything and the carpark had cctv footage of the crime, by the time the police bothered to do anything the footage was lost, he left the station with the words that the officer he needed was on nights and would call him… the same message he had been given for two weeks, he was totally disgusted.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, the modern police force does not do the job it is supposed to do and blindly defends itself against all criticism, it hides behind the glossy pr and the manipulation of crime figures, of course there are some hardworking officers but too many are just going through the motions because they are not accountable.
Your statement above is typical of somebody who is completely out of touch with what the average hard working person thinks and what they experience. The sad part is that it will not change because you are NOT accountable, police officers do not get fired for being rubbish at their jobs, they take the money and wait for their cosy pensions… taken nice and early.
So be aware that you are just one more cog in a system that we, the mainstay of British family life have lost confidence in you and you do not care.
SHAUN, WHILST HAVING SYMPATHY FOR YOUR STEP DAUGHTERS SITUATION I BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE QUICK TO BLAME THE POLICE AS A WHOLE FOR THE RESULT OF THE INVESTIGATION WHEN REALISTICALLY THE POLICE ARE TIED TO WHAT THE CPS DICTATE ON THE EVIDENCE AVAILABLE. YOU MAY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MR NEWCOME BUT PLEASE DO NOT BAD MOUTH THE WHOLE OF ESSEX POLICE AS AN ENTIRETY AS THERE ARE MANY HUMDREDS OF OFFICERS WORKING VERY HARD WITH A SYSTEM WHICH I AGREE IS NOT PERFECT. WITH REGARD TO THE MAN WHO IS THE SUBJECT OF THE CASE AT PRESENT THE POLICE AT THE COURT STAGE OF INVESTIGATION HAVE NO SAY IN THE ISSUE OF BAIL SO PLEASE DO NOT BLAME US IN BOLD TYPE IT IS NOT OUR DOING!!!!!!!!!
YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE A CHIP ON YOUR SHOULDER WITH MR NEWCOME BUT STOP BAD MOUTHING ESSEX POLICE AS A WHOLE.
I had a great chat with Mr Carswell who seemed to understand our frustration, he was angry that Essex Police had misled him thus opening him up to so much criticism.
We showed Douglas all the different incident reports, previous non molestation orders, other crime reports, hospital reports, proof that we had made complaints and statements and that Tim newcombs letter stating that we had dropped our complaint was an outright lie.
Douglas could not understand how one man could commit so much violence against a woman and not be serving a long jail sentence. Remembering that this thug only had a brief relationship with my daughter and that has resulted in two years of violent hell whenever he can find her.
He has written now to Tim Newcomb the police chief for Colchester but I know he will still try and fudge the issue and mislead still further because all he is is a poor politician and its the PR and his career that matters.
The latest case was back in court today (Tim Newcomb cannot lie this time) so lets see what the police and the CPS can mess up today.
hey I made posts too but i dont see why you cant allow them as its waht real people thik about this situation.
I heard about this today.
How can essex police charge somebody for what s in effect reasonable force and yet his man goes unpunished, the cps and tim newcomb should hang their heads in shame but of course they wont care. as for mr carswell i doubt you will hear anymore from him as he will be limping away to hide until it blows over.
the police and the local MPs are just in it for PR and its all about image andfancy words, deeds take effort and purpose and it looks as though Newcomb and Carswell are not interested, they are just careers people.
How can you sleep at night??
How the hell does a little lady get a caution for spping a 6.2 in animal, I know the people and god help you if they ever come your way Mr Carswell, but of course they wnt. This lady was very brave indeed t slap that man.
Hey Carswell, we are your constituants, where is your mettle.
I posted 3 comments and none have been published!!
Maybe I need to tone down my language but this has made me sooooooooo angry.
It is as they say Broken Britain when a thug gets preferntial treatment.
Well Mr Carswell, we are awaiting an update, I have not seen you post any further comments???
Have you got in touch with Mr Parker? I see that he has his email posted above, I hope you do and perhaps you will be able to use your position properly instead of going through the motions.
I cannot imagine that Catherine Harvey would write all those letters if the family had dropped the complaints so what were you thinking of!!!
Get of your backside and do something.
The matters of which you speak are nothing but appalling. In the grand scheme of things I have somewhat limited experience in this area however domestic violence is a matter which sits very closely to my heart, both for personal reasons and for love and respect of the family in question. No one in the world should be made to feel like they cannot live out their own lives without constant fear of being approached by someone with intent to torment and cause and harm.
As a teenager this is something which I was forced to deal with on a regular basis with certain people/groups of people trying to excerpt power and authority over me via what can only been deemed as bullying. After several attacks on me and threatening behaviour towards my family there were times in my own life when I was afraid to leave my home in the fear of getting beaten and, even worse, through fear of leaving my mum by herself. Albeit somewhat different circumstances, the same levels of concern applies which can have a somewhat demeaning effect on everyday life.
The thug in question is not unknown from the world of violence. He has already been charged on a separate occasion for causing grievous bodily harm with intent. This is not speculation, it was reported in a local newspaper which is readily available on the Internet…I am restraining from posting the article and naming the man in question!! Yet after a brief period in jail he still walks our streets.
The apparent lack of action from the police and relevant authorities does not help the situation in any way shape or form. In many cases (myself included) it mealy spurs a sense of revenge as times change a people grow, forcing people to attempt to resolve the problem in their own way by taking the law into their own hands and inevitably increasing the severity of the situation.
In other cases the lack of action leads the elimination of faith in the system ultimately leading to hundreds of people around the UK in similar circumstances failing to reveal the brutality of their experiences and continuing to unnecessarily live in fear.
As Stuart Davie so rightly commented “this is yet another example of broken Britain”. I am 100% behind your campaign and I urge others to stand up and have their say.
Shaun cannot change Britain by himself, I cannot change Britain on my own, but together we can give it a dam good try!
This is yet another example of broken Britain. The failing system is almost as much a disgrace as the cowards that continue to raise their hands to women.
Newcomb needs to act sharply here and try and resurect some dignity and put an end to this family’s misery. This scumbag (the coward causing the beatings and misery) needs to be behind bars, but with the prisons full to the brim, maybe this is another factor as to the police turning a blind eye.
My sympathies lie with the victims, why should they suffer any longer?
Newcomb should stand up and be counted – I bet he doesnt say a word.
The police promised me they would help protect me but when I called they took 2 hours to respond, two hours of pain.
They wont help you
I dont get how a senior police chief can lie to an MP??
I think this should be investigated but I dont know if Mr Parker should be so public about it, maybe this case is better behind closed doors but the wider issue should be investigated.
Hello Douglas,
It is good to see that we got your attention and that you responded.
Firstly I want to let you know that our decision to go to a public level is driven by a much wider experience of events than just this one, in fact 30 pages of violent offences spanning over two years, this is just one more, well actually three because two more offences were committed by this man against us and our daughter in the week after.
This is not an isolated event by this man, this is the tip of the iceberg.
We made the complaints, we spent many hours giving statements, at no point did we ever drop any of the complaints, in fact we have had threats to our lives for making them, how is it possible for Tim Newcomb to lie to you and if the police are willing to do that what chance do we have.
Time is not on our side to wait for workshops and letters to discuss this, the CPS have told us they are dropping the case NOT US and they are doing this despite our protests. I will be making a complaint at the way we and the case has been handled and I will follow it all the way as far as I can.
Your letter simply took the statement from Tim Newcomb (how can he say that) and then spun the responsibilty to us, what you are saying is that when our daughter walks down the street it is her responsibilty to make sure she is not attacked and beaten, how does a young girl do that?
Is that not the responsibilty of the police? A responsibilty of care for the community, should normal decent people not be allowed to go out in case they are beaten or killed because if they do their security was their own problem???
Time is not on our side, the invite to come and chat sometime will not help us, we came to you to try and get the CPS to carry on with the case, we appealed to you as we thought you would apply pressure to the system, that you would add weight but you allowed yourself to be conned and you then allowed what would of been a whitewash.
Other than go public there was no other course of action, that said if you are willing to meet us and meet us quickly in an environment that is not an open forum then perhaps you may get a clearer picture, I would stand by everything we have said and by everything we would say and I know that the facts would prevail.
You say you are not in a position to contradict the police well we have the letters and the police have all the statements.
The last straw was standing outside Clacton police station after Catherine was grilled for four hours and then cautioned and then to be told ‘I hope you are happy because we have done you a favour’, we retained our dignity and composure before going home and deciding to take this to the public domain.
I beleive that this is a much wider issue and that is why we want to put our energy into raising the profile on a national basis of which I have to power and capability to do.
I have some searching questions for you, questions that we cannot get answered by the police, perhaps you will not respond here but you could respond to parker@highposition.net and offer us some of your time?
Thank you for responding
Shaun
Dear Shaun,
On being contacted by your partner, Catherine Harvey, I acted quickly. I contacted the most senior police officer in this part of Essex, demanding to know if the police had acted – and if not, why not. Your partner has a copy of my letter.
The police, as you know, gave me a somewhat different version of events. I am not in a position to contradict either your partner or the police, as I am not in possession of all the facts.
That was why I again repeated the suggestion that your partner come to meet me to discuss how to ensure that the criminal justice system respond to her concerns. To date, my invitation has not been taken up.
My principal concern in this matter is to ensure that your step-daughter in law is protected – not to get involved in any web-based campaign. I am sure that your concern is likewise.
If it is, then can I suggest that you do indeed encourage your partner to contact my office, as indicated, to make an appointment to meet me at my regular local surgery to discuss the details of the case and how I might help?
I would prefered not to have responded to this on such a public forum, but as you posted on many such public forums, I felt I had no alternative.
I look forward to discussing this face-to-face with your partner, as I have repeatedly suggested.
Warm regards,
Douglas Carswell MP
If only you could feel the sheer frustration at the hollow words spat out by the police.
shame on you Carswell
shame on you Newcomb
