Educational Toys for Christmas
A light hearted look at toys for Christmas.
Well Christmas is nearly here and for the second year running the new style of educational toys will top the shopping lists. In the old days it was wooden toys and chemistry sets and small insects but now we have brain training and other technology games. For me its just not the way a traditional Christmas should be, lets face it bleeps, beeps and other electronic noises will replace the healthy solid clatter of wood and the bubble and squeek of experiments.
Little wooden toys can hang from your Christmas tree adding colour and character but plastic consoles would look just plain odd!!
I remember when I was about 11 I had a formicarium full of ants, I had been reliably told that if I ran a streak of butter round the top of the glass the ants would not escape, when morning arrived there were just a few ants in the butter…. and there were no ants left in the formicarium lol.
I think one of the best educational toys in memory was a wooden trainset and track, it was just like Brio and my boys spent so many hours building up the track, the village, bridges, stations, so many brilliant hours fun stretching imagination and ideas, dexterity, thinking, hand – eye co-ordination and of course communication between me and the boys, bonding and memories.
So this Christmas if you have young children then think – educational toys!
Stretch their imagination and faculties with educational toys.
