Corporate Events – Christmas Time
This year I would like to go Karting for the High Position corporate event, sadly we have a dinner and dance instead, just shows how little influence I have now on corporate events here. Of course in the old days I used to call the shots on events, it was always dominated by what I loved doing, cars, karts, paintball nigh out in London.
Now we have such a diverse set of eployees all with different interests that our corporate days and evenings have to cater for as many as possible and karting is not the most popular event. Thats pretty sad for me, being quite adept at that particular sport due to an element of rashness and lack of self preservation, now its casino nights, greyhound racing, Ascot, dinners, spa events.
Once I even managed a weekend in Dublin staying at a top hotel, still when your company is growing at 100% year on year I guess something has to change. In the old days High Position was a lifestyle business, it was fun and there was little pressure. Nowadays its very serious, I have 60 people who depend on the company for mortgages and holidays and 60 salarys alone, thats a heap of heavy responsibility.
Being serious and dedicated about business now means that I no longer call the shots on corporate events, the days of karting and paintball are now solely private events.
If only I could wind the clock back to those heady days of chequered flag corporate events.
