About Shaun Parker
Where do I start, currently just the right side of 50 years on the planet and so far have managed to deal with a number of curved balls thrown at me by life.
I have always been a bit entrepreneurial after losing my first job after leaving school, at times this has been a brilliant roller coaster and other times being at the mercy of a boom and bust economy has made life hard. In 1997 though I started a small business offering website design and soon found that some sites were busy with vistors and some were not.
That is where the journey started, analysis showed that prominent search positions made successful websites and happy clients. We soon attracted investors but sadly only nominal amounts of cash were ploughed in and after three years myself and Steve Dart (the other co-founder) bought out the intellectual property and the client base and started High Position.
It took a few years of success and several Google updates including Florida and Big Daddy before we cracked the corporate market properly. More success followed and in the last two years signings such as Lloyds TSB, Sony and Inchcape have enabled us to grow to a company with 50 staff.
High Position still grows and we are signing lots of great new business despite the recession, I expect our turnover to be heading towards ВЈ10m before too much longer.
Family life is great, my two children are doing very well and its amazing where time has gone, 10 years has vanished in the blink of an eye. I cannot wait until September 10th as I will be getting married to my lovely lady and her children and mine get on so well.
My next goal is to get the balance between work and home life just right but also to push High Position through the ВЈ10m turnover barrier, not bad for somebody who had to borrow the money to buy the first computer and start from home.
I truly believe that no matter what the economy and what the era – it is possible to be an entrepreneur, taking risks and pushing to the edge until you get the format right. Never give up and even when it seems like a lost cause hold your nerve because those that do may well realise that turnover benchmark.

How ya doin! I’m very impressed that when your name is put in google search engine your right up on the top of the result list.
We are all looking forward to the wedding including Chris with his speech, Katie was telling eveyone in Colchester she spoke to Saturday that she was being a bridesmaid. Joe’s been online tonight choosing a suit and can not make his mind up. And Tom, well Tom goes with the flow.
See you soon, love to all xx
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the post, I guess considering what I do for a living I should at least feature for my own name but I am not top yet so need to spend a little time on that
Hope your course is still going well and that you see it through, it sounds very intense I must say.
I am excited about the wedding and having family and friends around me.
It will be great to have the two boys all smart and Katy in her dress too.
I hope Chris is not too nervous lol although I am sure he will get at least a little banter on the day, have a great holiday and hope to see you soon.
Hi
I am one of the victims of Capstone being ripped off and also being repossessed unfairly.
I am with you Shaun in putting this company to public shame as they have also mis-sold this mortgage to me and other people.
They deserve what is coming to them.
Just read your ‘about me’ and very interested in you being entrepreneur. I’m always fascinated by any entrepreneurs story.
Me, modestly meteoric career from 20 yrs to about 32 yrs, just exactly the right training for an entrepreneur. But I thought it was crap – and nothing special at the time. It is only now with hindsight I can see it was brilliant compared to the average joe and I just kick myself for being too contemptuous of those opportunities I had then to dismiss them all so lightly at the time.
I wish I had them at my fingertips right now. I really need them !
It is really all about the wisdom of age, you know, everyone says when they’re older they wish they had their youth back with the wisdom they now have, because when they were young, they hadn’t got a clue owing to the lack of experience etc.
If you need people to turn up in court, I will gladly do so.
